1961-62
The 1961-62 Berry Falcons
Kneeling, L to R - David Sharp (manager), Dickie Weller,
Charles Henderson, Bernie Williams, James Childre, Cedric
Addison and Larry Pierce (manager)
Standing, L to R - John Chastain (manager), Marion
Parrish, Dural Pritchett, George Garbade, Robert Williams,
Byron Smith and Coach Jerry Shelton.
The 1961-62 Falcons were barely a .500 team, but they were led by one of the great all-time
scorers in school history. Dickie Weller, also known as "Doc", averaged over 20 points per game
and on December 1, 1961 he rang up a masterful 44 points against Johnson High of Rome. His
44 point performance established a school record at the time which was later broken in 1971. Doc
Weller is one of only five Berry players to ever break the 40 point barrier in a single game.
