David Ellis (65A), Deputy Director of Northwest Trek Wildlife Park,
died July 17, 2012. He was 65. Ellis, who lived in Eatonvlile, WA,
was part of Northwest Trek’s staff for 28 years. He leaves an
dedicated two-thirds of his professional life to Northwest Trek,
having arrived at the preserve near Eatonville on Jan. 17, 1985.
Trek opened 35 years ago, on July 17, 1975. The 723-acre
zoological park is home to native Northwest wildlife that inhabits
free-roaming areas and exhibits. He died on Northwest Trek’s 37th
anniversary, and July 17 was a date he celebrated every year for the
contribution the wildlife park has made to the local community and
to efforts to preserve a variety of species.
