In Memoriam
Mike Franks
Class of 1968
Michael Franks passed away at the very young age of
38 on November 23, 1987. He attended Berry Academy
for only one year, his senior year of 1967-68. Michael
assimilated quickly into the Berry community and was
the Editor-in-Chief of
The Lavendar Blue. In addition to
his role at the campus paper, Mike teamed with David
Sellers to participate in a weekly radio show on WROM
called “High School Highlights”. Serving as Berry’s
version of NBC’s Huntley-Brinkley, Berry had the only
“team” of broadcasters on the show, a regular update of
campus sports, news and features.

Mike came to Berry from Tucson, AZ. After graduation in
1968, he served in the U.S. Air Force in Vietnam. Upon
leaving the military, Michael returned to his hometown of
Tucson.
