Mary Loveday
Former Faculty & Staff
Mary Mahon Loveday, age 90, of Smyrna, GA, passed
away on October 12, 2013, after a brief illness. Mrs.
Loveday was preceded in death by her husband, Fred
H. Loveday, in 1985. She is survived by two daughters,
two grandchildren and a great-granddaughter. Her
daughters are Jean Loveday of Smyrna, and Nancy
Loveday Smith and her husband, David, of Rome, GA.
Her grandchildren are Virginia Smith Parrino and her
husband, Warren, of Atlanta; and Stephen D. Smith, III,
his wife Keri and their daughter, Slade Catherine, of
Rome, GA.

A native of Laurens, SC, she graduated from Winthrop
College in Rock Hill, SC and received her masters
degree from Georgia State University. She was a
life-long educator, teaching Spanish and Latin at the
Berry Schools in Rome, GA, and The Lovett School in
Atlanta, and also substituting at public and private
schools in the Atlanta area after her retirement from
Lovett.

A memorial service for Mrs. Loveday will be held on
Wednesday, October 16, 2013, in the chapel of the
First Baptist Church of Smyrna, Georgia at 3:00 p.m.
The family will receive friends prior to the service
between 1:00 and 3:00 p.m. at the chapel. Dr. Steven
Kimmel will conduct the service. Alumni of the Mount
Berry School for Boys, between 1950-1966 are invited
to be honorary pallbearers. Internment will follow the
service at the Georgia Memorial Park on
Cobb Parkway in Marietta, GA. In lieu of flowers,
contributions may be made to the Mary and Fred H.
Loveday Scholarship Funds at Berry College, P.O. Box
490069, Mount Berry, Georgia 30149.
